Marine Engine Diagnostics

What is Marine Engine Diagnostics?

Marine Engine Diagnostics is the analysis of the engine’s built in computer system. This is done by connecting to the engine’s Electronic Control Module (ECM). The computers and software we use has an adapter unique to the engine manufacture to provide valuable information regarding the engines’ history. By connecting into the ECM we can learn valuable information regarding your potential purchase. By doing engine diagnostic scans this enables the surveyor to verify valuable information such as the actual engine hours, the RPM run history so we know how the engines have been operated during their life, current engine fault codes as well as historic fault codes. Engine diagnostics provides valuable information regarding the engine’s history to better enable our customers to make an informed decision before the purchase of the vessel. On inboard powered boats our sophisticated software has the ability to actually record the engines performance during the sea trial. This enables our surveys to verify the helm gauges accuracy and get exact details on the engine’s performance when sea trialing. Engine diagnostics is available as an additional option in conjunction with a marine survey on all gasoline inboard and most outboard engines providing the engines are ECM equipped.

Outboard Engine Diagnostics

Sun Coast Marine Surveying now offers engine diagnostics scans on all outboard and jet ski engines. The diagnostics software connects into the engines electronic control module and eneables our surveyors to veryify engine hours, RPM run history, fault codes and in some cases service history. This valuable information assists the buyer in making an informed decision when purchasing a vessel with outboards or a jet ski. This is an optional service offered only in conjunction with a marine survey on a vessel.

Diacom supports MerCruiser, Mercury Outboards, Volvo Penta, lndmar, Pleasurecraft Marine, Crusader, Ilmor, Marine Power, Kodiak, Flagship Marine, GM RamJet Engines and more…

The Diacom PC-based diagnostic tool provides the flexibility and power required to troubleshoot today’s sophisticated EFI systems. Diacom Marine is one of the few diagnostic tools that supports the broadest range of engines. Moreover, the software uses the computing capability of a typical Windows notebook to quickly and precisely identify issues with an EFI system.

.

  • Productivity equals profitability.
You no longer need an advanced computer to diagnose EFI faults. The Diacom software runs on a standard notebook PC.

    .

  • Stay compatible and competitive.
Diacom will free you from the limitations of dedicated diagnostic tools. It does this by helping you take advantage of your notebook’s technology. Additionally, you will appreciate how easy it is to access CD-based service data and exchange engine data online.
PC Diagnostic Power

Diacom Marine is rapidly revolutionizing the field of marine engine diagnostics. It is a servicing tool that can quickly and precisely pinpoint engine issues. This is made possible because most gasoline sterndrives, inboard motors, and outboard motors all come with sophisticated engine control systems. Diacom will grant you full access to the engine control system even when using only a typical notebook. Compared to other tools on the market, the program provides more sophisticated diagnostic features.

You Spoke, We Listened

Diacom Marine was not just created for the sake of creating a diagnostic tool. Your suggestions and thoughts were taken into consideration when developing Diacom Marine. We know that nobody is better qualified to perform your tasks than you. For this reason, we have been gathering data from the companies and marine service experts we work with for the past ten years. With this data in hand, our engineers were able to compile a wish list that helped design a tool that is well-structured, approachable, and discoverable. The Diacom Marine is the tool we created. It was made possible thanks to your insightful feedback.

Internet Connectivity

Our daily routines are being altered by the Internet. You most likely communicate differently with clients and suppliers thanks to the internet. Diacom is leveraging the power of the Internet to transform how you troubleshoot engines. The tool is Internet-savvy and provides an easy way to share data with outside parties. Additionally, it has the ability to transform your engine data into formats that can be read on Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access software.

A Big Screen Brings Huge Benefits

The screens on laptops today are better and larger than before. Diacom is utilizing this brand-new function to provide the “Big Picture” of what is actually taking place. It accomplishes this by making use of your computer’s expansive display. By focusing on the big picture, you can spend more time comprehending EFI values and less time clicking on scanner keys to browse the list of parameters. Diacom also allows you to customize the data display so you can view each EFI system type in the most appealing manner. Some additional features include being able to see side-by-side displays of a twin-engine, getting larger parameter windows, immediate pop-up graphs, report printing, and extensive data recording capabilities. This is why more marine surveyors are choosing Diacom.

The Electronic Age of Information

You no longer have to trawl through piles of service manuals and technical bulletins for hours. The majority of manufacturers offer engine servicing information on CDs. This digital information on engine servicing can be updated and searched easily. Utilizing the electronic information era, Diacom makes it simple to add digital data supplied by engine manufacturers to the tool. By clicking on the fault code on the Diacom display screen, you will be able to access the service information features1.

Tests Made to Order

Tests done for one engine management system cannot be applied to other systems because there are so many different EFI systems in use in the marine industry. The engineers that built Diacom are aware of this. Therefore, they designed the tool to configure itself to fit the EFI system being examined automatically. In addition, displaying and delivering a specific set of tests pertinent to a certain system helps streamline the working of the diagnostic tool. This is made practicable by the Windows ActiveX programming technology.

Special Functions

Every factory-authorized dealership is aware of how critical it is to have cutting-edge service technologies. For this reason, Diacom Marine now includes specialized EFI system features. This was made possible by our collaboration with the manufacturers of marine engines. As a result, factory-authorized dealerships can upgrade systems and perform memory updates in a matter of minutes using a single integrated diagnostic application. Thanks to Diacom, the usage of ECM exchange is decreasing and has, in certain cases, been eliminated completely.
